Head of Digital & Data
The TenneT Business Technology Organization (BTO) department is responsible for developing, realizing, and managing IT technology for all of TenneT. Your contribution
As the Head of Digital & Data within the Business Technology Organization (BTO), you will lead the Advanced Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Platform, and Data Governance teams, acting as the key reference for all digital and data-related topics across TenneT in both the Netherlands and Germany. You will drive the organization’s transformation into a data-driven TSO by executing a strategic digital and data vision that aligns with the corporate roadmap and enhances TenneT’s data maturity. Your role involves close collaboration with all business domains and other BTO departments to ensure seamless integration of data-driven solutions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. By identifying opportunities for enhancement and ensuring the adoption of advanced data capabilities, you will build a resilient department that adapts to change and consistently delivers high-impact solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the Digital & Data Department:
- Oversee a corporate department of approximately 100 FTE, ensuring alignment with strategic initiatives and fostering a strong, collaborative team culture.
- Provide leadership in a complex, matrixed organization, ensuring that the department operates as one cohesive unit.
- Execute your strategic vision for data, integrating advanced data practices to drive organizational growth and innovation.
- Provide Strategic Support for Business Domains:
- Work closely with BT leadership to set priorities, analyze outcomes, and implement actionable plans.
- Collaborate with heads of BT business domains to proactively identify risks, remove obstacles, and seize opportunities for digital and data-driven advancements.
- Act as the key bridge between business and technology teams, ensuring alignment on strategic goals and execution.
- Develop and Empower Talent:
- Build the department’s capabilities by fostering a culture of continuous learning, coaching, and leadership development.
- Guide your team leaders in creating structured roadmaps for both technical and managerial skill growth.
- Optimize resource allocation to maintain a well-balanced and highly efficient team.
- Lead leaders, ensuring alignment, professional development, and shared accountability across teams.
- Drive Value from Digital & Data:
- Spearhead the adoption of cloud-based data platforms, ensuring scalable, secure, and compliant data solutions.
- Accelerate the development of impactful data products that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Guide the organization through digital transformation, ensuring seamless integration of new technologies and data governance frameworks.
- Drive change and ensure that the entire department works together as one unit to achieve strategic digital and data objectives.
Additional Information
- The location for this role is Arnhem, and the candidate will be expected to be on-site at the head office in Arnhem at least twice a week. On Mondays, it will be required to be in the office.
- The maximum travel distance from Arnhem is 1 hour.

Eisen
- Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience with a proven affinity for these areas.
- At least 10 years of experience in a comparable senior role managing digital and data departments.
- Demonstrable experience in successfully implementing cloud-based data platforms, digitalization utilizing data, and data governance.
- Proven track record of delivering scalable data use cases with tangible business impact.
- Extensive experience in managing change and guiding teams through transitions.
- Successfully designed and delivered data organizations and operating models.
- Strong strategic vision for data and digital innovation.
- Leadership capabilities, including team building, coaching, and stakeholder management.
- Well-versed in compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards in the digital and data space.
- Excellent communication skills to inspire and guide teams while influencing decision-making at the executive level.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in German and/or Dutch is an advantage.
